La Barbecue and Salt Lick Barbecue will be featured on an upcoming episode of Michael Symon's Food Network show Burgers, Brews, & 'Que. He filmed footage with the two barbecue spots over the weekend. Expect appearances by pitmaster John Lewis and LeAnn Mueller. Symon took a little digging for going to Salt Lick, too. Symon’s Burger Joint, his Austin venture within Urban Outfitter’s Space 24 Twenty complex, opened last month.

— Easy Tiger is Austin’s most frequented bar, according to Foursquare check-ins this year.

— After debuting its 11th store last month on East Oltorf, P. Terry’s opened another location on North Lamar and West Koenig Lane on Saturday, December 5. Owner Patrick Terry wants to have 14 spots all together.

— Starting next year, central preparation facilities, which food trucks are required to use to prep fare, will have to register with the city. The Statesman also reported that 171 food trucks failed health inspections this year.
