Whole Foods Creates Crisis Team, Lambert’s New Patio, and More A.M. Intel

The latest six restaurant tidbits in Austin served right now.

Nadia Chaudhury is the editor of Eater Austin covering food and pop culture, as well as a photographer, writer, and frequent panel moderator and podcast guest.

— Whole Foods created a crisis team after the rough year it had in 2015, from asparagus water, layoffs, and other legal problems. The supermarket chain is opening affordable versions called 365, and nabbed Momofuku’s Tien Ho as president of culinary and hospitality.

— While Mellizoz Tacos is closed today and tomorrow, tamales are still available for pick up orders.

— Fancy barbecue joint Lambert’s is debuting a new patio this week, just in time for the holidays.

— Buzz Mill Coffee is getting into wild game meats and breakfast tacos, offering venison, elk, bison, and more from Broken Arrow Ranch, and the heavy Lumberjack breakfast taco, with beans, eggs, bacon, sausage, gravy, and hash browns.

— Kerlin BBQ is on vacation for the holidays until 2016.

— Sushi needs to be eaten as soon as it is made, according to Uchi’s Tyson Cole. He also shared other bits of sushi advice, including the importance of each grain of rice, and treating each fish and each part of the fish differently.
