— Taylor Kitsch, the Canadian actor best known for playing Tim Riggins in Austin-filmed Friday Night Lights, had to make the difficult decision of picking between poutine and breakfast tacos. He wrongly chose his home country’s dish because, he said, "It’s way worse for you, but it’s really, really delicious."

— Speaking of breakfast tacos, winner of the Chronicle’s bracket, chosen by readers, was Juan in a Million.

— Blue Bell Ice Cream was named as Texas Monthly’s bum steer of the year, after the whole listeria problem and the way people championed its return, despite glaring problems.

— Olamaie will be closed for the holidays starting with Christmas Eve on Thursday, December 24, until Monday, January 4, reopening the next day.

— Toronto publication The Star highlighted Iron Works BBQ in the travel section this week, describing it as "fun, not fancy."

— Want to cook or work under Bryce Gilmore? The very soon-to-be-relocated Barley Swine on Burnet is now hiring for line cooks and other positions.
