The holiday season is well underway with festive light displays, Christmas Eve dinner plans, and Star Wars anticipation (that counts, right?). Until then, keep yourself occupied with these four food and drink events this weekend.

POP-UP WIRE — Get ready for more baked goods from baker Hannah Casparian during her pop-up at Gelateria Gemelli on Saturday, December 12. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., find banana bread, cinnamon rolls, and more. Plus, you can add gelato on top of any order. [EaterWire]

SOUTH FIRST — Remember there are no beans in true Texas chili when food writer Robb Walsh talks about his new book at Lenoir on Saturday. The kitchen will make chili using a recipe from The Chili Cookbook. Tickets are $30. [EATX]

BARTON SPRINGS — Celebrate Christmas early with Uncle Billy’s Brew & Que’s beer dinner on Saturday. Toy donations are encouraged and participants will be rewarded with a take-home pint glass. The four course dinner is paired the brewery’s beers from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $50. [EaterWire]

BRUNCH WIRE — Another weekend, another new brunch spot to add to the list. This time, it’s newcomer Oasthouse Gastropub starting on Saturday and Sunday. Heavy brunch dishes include banana bread French toast and carnitas poutine. Brunch hours are 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and earlier on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant is also adding lunch on Monday, December 14. [EaterWire]
