In-N-Out Burger is Expanding to Campus [Updated]

This would be the chain’s fifth location in Austin.

It seems like cultishly-adored In-N-Out is potentially looking to open yet another location, this time on the Drag. The California chain applied for permits for the campus address this month. If and when approved, it would take over the defunct Burger King on 2700 Guadalupe. This would be near chef Michael Symon’s counter-only burger expansion, which recently opened within Urban Outfitters’ Space 24 Twenty. Eater reached out to In-N-Out. Watch this space for any updates.

Update, December 15: A rep confirmed that In-N-Out Burger is working on the Guadalupe spot, but it is "still in the early stages."

This potential expansion is hot on the heels of In-N-Out’s fourth Austin-area opening on South Lamar last month, which demolished the former Wendy's at the site. There are spots already on Airport Boulevard, Round Rock, and Cedar Park. Austin, along with Las Vegas, are the only two cities in the country currently with running locations of both West Coast-beloved chain and East Coast favorites Shake Shack. In-N-Out is currently working on opening three sites in California.
