Launderette, the neighborhood cafe in Holly from Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki, will begin serving lunch on Monday, November 16. The menu will include new dishes like salt cod croquettes, ricotta gnudi, and beluga lentil. On the desserts side, there is a take on Girl Scout cookies, along with a cheese plate. Lunch hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Ortiz and Sawicki, formerly of La Condesa and Sway, turned a former laundromat and gas station into Launderette, which opened in February. Future plans for the restaurant still include converting the next-door convenience store into Angry Bear, a grocery and Szechuan take-out restaurant. The two also oversee drive-thru Fresa's Chicken al Carbon on North Lamar. There is a second one in the works on South First, taking over the former Freddie's Place spot.
