The Barlow Knife is slider food truck Hand Helds' new brick and mortar in Dripping Springs. Owners Jessie and chef Robyn Morin decided to open the standalone restaurant as a way to have a brick and mortar for the food truck, as well as explore other dishes in the vein of "basic, rustic, pioneer-type cooking," according to Jessie. The soft open happened on Saturday, November 7.
The menu focuses on what Jessie called "basic, rustic, pioneer-type cooking." So far that means quail pops, sausage plate, and buckets of bacon. The dedicated sliders section from Hand Helds includes the waiver-required Hen Reaper, doused with Carolina Reaper pepper sauce. There is also a full bar centered on Texas beers, liquors, and cocktails. Scope out the current menu below.
The two decided to open in Dripping Springs on 3991 East Highway 290, because the food truck did well in the Hill Country town. The restaurant space has an outdoor patio that was just completed, and there are plans for a bigger outdoor space with a bar, fire pit, stage, and playground.
Hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday, and 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Barlow will include Saturday lunch and Sunday brunch soon. The roaming food truck will still remain operational.
