Brad Sorenson, Food Network alum and executive chef, has left No Va to join the Alamo Drafthouse. A call to No Va confirmed the departure, and that he would be joining the Alamo’s test kitchen. Taking his place in the interim will be sous chef Chris S. Dodd, who has been with the restaurant since March 2014.
Sorenson opened the Rainey Street restaurant in the summer of 2013, aiming to serve what he described "homespun twists on upscale classics," like the tamale gnocchi on the current menu. Before No Va, he previously worked for Asti. He was featured in the sixth season of Food Network Star and appeared in an episode of Chopped in 2011.
