The long-anticipated bakery and dessert bar from one of Austin's best pastry chefs will finally open this winter. Jodi Elliott, previously of Foreign & Domestic, will open Bribery at 2013 Wells Branch Parkway, Suite 109. The space offers a large commissary kitchen, and Elliott will sell pastries daily to go or to eat in their "comfy seating" area. Projected opening is late February, and updates will be posted on Bribery's Instagram.
Bribery was originally conceived as a combination bakery and boozy dessert bar, but after a series of lease setbacks in East Austin, Elliott moved her focus north, and the current incarnation will not serve alcohol. The Chronicle reported in November plans are still afoot for a dessert bar concept. While working as the pastry chef at Foreign & Domestic, the surprise success of her weekend bake sales inspired her to pursue a bakery.
