Before Torchy Tacos takes over the former Fran’s Hamburger restaurant on South Congress, the taco chain invites the public to view the demolition at 2pm today, Wednesday, January 21, as reported by the Chronicle.

The iconic Fran’s Hamburgers shuttered in 2013 after owner Ed Terrazas declined to renew the lease. The restaurant was formerly Austin’s first Dan’s Hamburgers until 1990 when Dan and Fran Junk divorced, and split the chain into Dan’s and Fran’s. The new space on South Congress will serve as Torchy’s Tacos’ flagship restaurant. It is expected to open in July.
