The breakfast institution is still open on Burnet Road.

The Omelettry’s moving saga continues as the opening of the new Airport Boulevard space is delayed until March at the earliest. The original Burnet Road location is still open and will remain so until the Airport restaurant is ready, so everyone can still eat as many omelets as they desire. The building permits were delayed, according to an email from Joni Carpenter, wife of The Omelettry owner Kenny. Also, the original contractor for the project passed away recently, so Kenny took over as the general contractor.

The Austin institution was forced to seek out a new site in 2014, after getting priced out of their lease. Kenny, along with his son Jesse, wanted to buy the original building, but the landlord kept declining their offers, so they instead found the Airport Boulevard location in March. The new sign went up in December.
