The South Lamar location of cultishly loved Ramen Tatsu-Ya will officially open on Sunday, January 25, according to a press release. The noodle shop will be open for dinner, which will feature their signature ramen, seven days a week from 5-10pm at 1234 South Lamar. There are plans to add lunch sometime soon. The drinks program will focus on local and Japanese beers, sake cocktails, and sake. The interior’s design aesthetic will be similar to the original location, and will feature a giant dragon mural, and wheat-pasted street art posters by Ryan Cross and chef/owner Tatsu Aikawa. The restaurant has been posting photos of the construction, and there appears to be a take-out window.
The South Austin expansion was announced last spring. Before that revelation, Aikawa told Eater in 2013 that he'd like to open up to four new locations.
