A proposal to install rainbow crosswalks in Austin's tiny gayborhood was approved " in seconds" by city council, The Chronicle reports. Several restaurants and bars on West 4th, including Truluck's and Peche, had originally voiced concerns about the crosswalk opening a "Pandora's box" of street modifications and decorations, but all withdrew them before the vote. Austin Pride, who spearheaded the move, say via Facebook they will start work on the crosswalks "within the next few months."
