It's been a long wait for Olamaie, the modern southern restaurant originally slated to open in late fall of 2013. Chefs Michael Fojtasek and Grae Nonas wowed Austin diners with a series of pop-up dinners last fall, only to hit a lengthy series of construction delays. Now, the wait is over: Olamaie will open on Tuesday, August 26, according to a press release.
Here's a first look around the welcoming and elegant space. Fojtasek and Nonas previously worked at notable restaurants like Los Angeles's Son of a Gun and New York's Lincoln Ristorante, and along with general manager Ben Hickerson seek to bring a seasonal and modern interpretation of Southern cuisine to Austin. Opening hours will be Tuesday - Thursday 5:30 - 10:00 p.m. and Friday - Saturday 5:30 - 11:00 p.m. The lounge will open at 5 p.m. for drinks.
