Hotter than hot ticketed prix fixe dining has finally reached Austin. Qui's ticketed tasting room still hasn't launched, but a Southern fried chicken food trailer down the street has unleashed their chef's table. Chef Erica Waksmunski's Red Star Southern offers a formal, ticketed nine-course tasting menu for $85. The seasonal menu will rotate according a theme; the current theme is, uh, "food trailer."
Waksmunski tells Eater the nine-course menu is brand new, but she's already hosted a three-course vegan tasting for "a friend and his OK Cupid date." In addition to the tasting menu, Waksmunski says, "We offer the finest of bug sprays in both aerosol and spritz, and pairings with Italian soda and Pellegrino." Waksmunski has a lengthy fine dining resume as a pastry chef, including Austin's Congress. To purchase tickets for this hyper-exclusive dining experience, email Red Star Southern. Perhaps they're the mysterious Austin restaurant which will pilot Alinea's ticketing system.
