President Barack Obama arrives in Austin tonight for a whirlwind fundraiser tour, and for once, he won't just eat at Stubb's. At tonight's fundraiser at filmmaker Robert Rodriguez's house, Obama will be feted with a special taco from Fresa's Chicken al Carbon, where Rodriguez is an investor. The taco's name, of course: the El Presidente.
Sources with intimate knowledge of the event tell Eater the El Presidente is a chicken fajita taco specially created by Fresa's partner and chef Rene Ortiz for the president. Pastry chef and partner Laura Sawicki will also serve specially created ice creams, which Ortiz appears to have teased on Twitter earlier today. Eater also hears San Antonio chef Jason Dady will be cooking, and Robert Rodriguez will be making pizza.
Don't have the $5,000 - $32,000 to attend the fundraiser tonight? The El Presidente should hit the Fresa's menu soon. Obama partied pretty hard in Denver last night, so perhaps a taco from Fresa's will only be the beginning of his Austin eating tour. Drop any and all Obama intel right here.
