The rapidly changing Burnet Road landscape will feature a new take on tacos from a longtime Uchi chef. Fork & Taco announced plans to open last month, and chef/managing partner Casey Fannin tells Eater they expect to open in mid-August.
Fannin says the tacos will draw on his experience in Uchi's playful kitchen, where he worked "all the stations" over five years. He's an especially big fan of combining fruit with meats, so many tacos will feature fruit-based additions like watermelon salsa or an apple slaw. The menu will also feature a number of vegetable-based tacos, using ingredients like roast beets. Fannin is a self-described "ice cream junkie," and the restaurant's soft serve ice cream will be served with churros.
The restaurant will start out serving lunch and dinner, with breakfast on the weekends. Fannin envisions the restaurant fitting into the Brentwood neighborhood as a family-friendly and approachable option, where patrons can "bring their kids and see their neighbors."
