Austin's long municipal nightmare may finally be coming to an end: the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar is on track to reopen this summer. The latest and greatest development is the theater is hiring for all positions at a job fair next week at The Gibson Bar. Interested applicants should stop by from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday June 30 - Thursday July 3.
The beloved local theater chain's latest plywood update showcases serious progress on the interior of the theater, and The Statesman's Matthew Odam nabs a shot of the newly installed sign. According to their latest blog posting, the opening timing depends as much on the construction conditions on the whole site, not just the Drafthouse building.
The beloved theater and eatery shuttered temporarily to make room for the Lamar Union, a massive mixed-use development designed by architect Michael Hsu. The complex will eventually feature Texas's first Shake Shack, as well as a bevy of new restaurants.
