Esteemed readers, Eater is thrilled to present the much-anticipated Young Guns Class of 2014, a distinguished group of 16 of the hottest young and/or new chefs, restauranteurs, general managers and hospitality industry professionals in the country. These are the junior statesmen of the culinary world who have most distinguished themselves this year and who are its next stars.
Included in their number this year is Austin's own Steven Dilley of Bufalina. Why is Dilley a Young Gun? After leaving his job in the financial sector in 2010, he took the Austin pizza scene by storm with his expertly executed Neapolitan pizzas, paired with excellently sourced ingredients and an under-the-radar great wine list.
Congratulations are also due to semifinalist Rob Jacob Drennan of Qui, who Paul Qui praised as having "an amazing touch with food." The winners will be feted at a gala event in Los Angeles tonight.
