Terry Black's Barbecue, the unsanctioned fourth-generation offshoot of the legendary Black's Barbecue in Lockhart, is slated to open its doors early next week, according to a tweet from the restaurant.
The new barbecue spot, which is going into the building on Barton Springs that formerly housed South Austin Bar & Grill, was originally scheduled to open in the spring but ran up against permitting delays. Mike Black, who is the nephew of Black's pitmaster Kent Black, told Eater back in December that he wanted to return to his grandfather's "old school" way of cooking; he'll be joined at Terry Black's by his twin brother, Mark (the restaurant is named after their father, Terry).
