The bungalow that once was Lustre Pearl has a new home and a new role: the building will become a restaurant on East Cesar Chavez. The Austin Business Journal reports the building's owner, Jesse Lunsford, was behind the move. He tells the ABJ, "By being a restaurant without late hours we can add an amenity to the neighborhood with being a disturbance late at night."
Lustre Pearl owner and bar maven Bridget Dunlap's involvement in the restaurant project is still up in the air; she is described as "in talks" to be the restaurant's operator. The building was moved from its Rainey Street site in order to make room for a mixed-use condo development. Dunlap will open a new Rainey Lustre Pearl across the street, and previously suggested the Cesar Chavez project could become a Lustre Pearl as well.
