A third location of Ronald Cheng's Chinatown officially opened over the weekend, in the exact same Westlake space where the restaurant got its start in 1983. Viriginia Wood at The Chronicle takes a first look around the space. In addition to Chinatown classics, the new restaurant will feature regional Chinese dishes that might be less familiar to American diners. Cheng also has a YouTube cooking series in the works.

Ronald Cheng discussed his thirty years in Austin's restaurant industry with Eater earlier this year. After growing up working in his mother's Chinese restaurant in Austin, Cheng pioneered an upscale approach to Chinese cuisine with the original Chinatown. He currently operates a Chinatown North Austin and downtown.
