Much-Delayed Al Fico Now Aims to Open This Summer

Remember Al Fico, the new Italian restaurant from the Vino Vino team? The restaurant was originally slated to open the summer of 2012, but endless permit delays and other hiccups have pushed that date back several times. A rep for the restaurant tells Eater they're now hoping to open this summer.

The restaurant also sends along pictures of real, live progress on the space at East 2nd and Chalmers. The pizza oven was made by "a local artisan," and will be the centerpiece of a menu focused on pan-Italian cuisine designed by chef Dean Chambers. Owner Jeff Courington talked some smack last year about Austin's Italian dining scene, and he intends Al Fico to be "an homage to the way things were."
