Crestview's Little Deli and Pizzeria is known for their authentic Jersey-style pizza and sandwiches, and owner Tony Villani plans to bring another Northeast specialty to Austin: Italian American comfort food. Villani tells Eater that he plans on opening a "mom and pop" Italian restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Perfecto Cleaners in the same shopping center as Little Deli.
Villani decided to open the restaurant after realizing that fellow lovers of Italian American food had nowhere to go to get "Sunday gravy, or a just a bowl of pasta and humble meatballs." For the uninitiated, Villani describes the food as "Soprano's Italian." The restaurant's name has yet to be confirmed, and Villani hopes to be open by the fall.
