Three Austin chefs are in the running for Food & Wine's "People's Best New Chef" award for 2014. Paul Qui of Qui, Contigo's Andrew Wiseheart, and Swift's Attic's Mat Clouser are all contenders in the Southwest category. Chefs must have been in charge of their own kitchens for five years or less in order to qualify.
Food & Wine praises Clouser's "light, imaginative (and spot-on) small plates," Wiseheart's "terrific rustic dishes," and Qui's admixture of Japanese technique, Filiopino influences, and American ingredients in "wonderfully unpredictable ways." Hit F&W's site to vote for your favorite. Voting is open from March 24-31.
