A-OK Chinese, a fast casual American Chinese restaurant from two Austin industry veterans, is getting very close to opening. Former Alamo Drafthouse executive chef John Bullington and his business partner Jerry Reid announced the project back in August, and they originally hoped to open by December. Permitting issues pushed the date back to March.
The restaurant has already held one soft opening, and several more are slated for the weekend. Bullington previously told Eater that he decided to open A-OK due to both neighborhood demand and his own passion for Asian food. The restaurant's Twitter bio currently reads: "Best 44-seat-American-Chinese-beer-and-wine-joint-named-A-OK on South Lamar!"
