Friends & Neighbors, a new cafe, wine bar, grocery and boutique (really, all of them), is opening soon on Cesar Chavez, CultureMap reports. The renovated house will primarily serve as a store, but will also feature Stumptown Coffee, wine, and snacks inside and outside in the garden. On the food:
For the cafe, the owners are sourcing simple, high-quality goodies to be served alongside wine, beer and coffee from Portland's beloved Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Under General Manager Mercedes Singleton, who cut her chops at Brooklyn's famed Marlowe & Daughters, expect to find a place to simply take a seat and enjoy your surroundings. "We don't want fancy drinks or fancy food, we just want a comfortable place to be," says Place-Mathews.The project is helmed by Jade Place-Matthews and Greg Matthews of Hillside Farmacy, and is slated to open, like every other restaurant and bar, before SXSW.
