SOUTH LAMARThe Statesman reports that Maria's Taco XPress is hosting a benefit for an employee struggling with advanced leukemia in hopes of finding a donor match. The event will be held from Saturday, February 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will both raise money for Vicente Predroza and offer cheek swabs in hopes of finding a match. [Statesman]

EAST SIDEThe Peached Tortilla is hosting another pop-up dinner on Friday, February 28 at LOOT Vintage. Their pop-ups will serve as previews/test-runs of potential menu items at their forthcoming brick and mortar store on Burnet Road. Tickets for this pop-up are $50 and available here. [Eaterwire]

DOWNTOWNThe Statesman also reports that the Future Food Salon is coming to Austin next Wednesday, February 19 at Brazos Hall. What is the future of food? Eating bugs, of course. Chef Sonya Cote will be serving cricket canapes, and many bug-advocates will be on hand. [Statesman]
