Third Base Shutters on West Sixth; Russian House's Cooking Class; Ortiz Wins Citywide 86'd's First Round

THE SHUTTER — The Statesman reports that Third Base has closed their West Sixth location. The sports bar's other three locations remain open for business. [Statesman]

DOWNTOWN — Russian House will host a cooking class next Monday, February 17. They will teach students to make Ukrainian borscht and orange salad, for the price of $10. The class starts at 6 p.m., and more information is available on Facebook. [Eaterwire]

CITYWIDE 86'd — Uchi's Lauren Ortiz won the first round of this year's Citywide 86'd competition. The Chopped-style cooking challenge was originally pioneered by the Uchi group and has now been opened up to competitors across Austin. The finals will be held in June. [Eaterwire]
