Is it time to hold a candlelight vigil for Players? The long-time late-night burger destination/University of Texas student hangout that closed up shop for good in late November has now been completely demolished. A photo gallery posted by KXAN depicts the landmark Players sign standing tall over a pile of bricks and wood, a bulldozer ominously hanging out in the background.

The land was purchased by the university in 2012, and though they granted Players a ten-year lease, it came with a stipulation that it could be terminated at any time with a six months notice — a notice that came a-calling back in May. Despite the closure, the Yelp page for Players is still active, with a string of recent reviews memorializing the restaurant with messages like "so sad that this place is now closed. thank you UT for ruining a great business!!" and "you will be missed, Players."
