Dallas-based Twisted Root Burger Co. began its Austin expansion in April with the opening of its UT campus-area location on West 26th, but as an Eater tipster pointed out this morning, it's already closed just several months down the road.
A rep for Twisted Root confirms the news; while a specific reason for the closure isn't given, the restaurant will be forging ahead with their plans to open another location on Burnet Road which they say will have "better parking and accessibility for all customers." Look for that to debut in February.
Twisted Root launched in Dallas back in 2005 and currently has about a dozen locations (including one outside Texas, in Shreveport). The menu revolves around build-your-own burgers with ingredients like fried onion strings, bacon-ranch sauce, and guacamole, plus a lineup of "fried things" and boozy milkshakes made from housemade frozen custard.
