Take a Sneak Peek Inside Upscale Southern Fixe

Go inside Austin’s last new restaurant of 2015.

Nadia Chaudhury is the editor of Eater Austin covering food and pop culture, as well as a photographer, writer, and frequent panel moderator and podcast guest.

Fixe, the Southern restaurant run by Keith House and James Robert, finally opens today. Located in the new IBC Bank building downtown on 500 W. Fifth Street, Fixe aims to create a dining experience similar to attending a dinner party in someone’s home. Eater photographer Robert J. Lerma takes you inside the new space.

The centerpiece of the dining room is the large wooden indoor porch with screens to make the space feel open yet intimate. The Southern progressive menu includes a dedicated grits section, along with biscuits, pickled shrimp, and boudin. Reservations for tonight are currently being accepted, but the restaurant will be closed tomorrow for Christmas.
