Players Will Stay Open One Final Day So Fans Can Say Goodbye

Late night burger destination and beloved UT hangout Players extended their hours for one final day, according to KVUE and CultureMap. The restaurant was scheduled to shutter yesterday, November 23, but the record turnout convinced owner Carlos Oliveira to keep the doors open for one more day:

In fact, the owners planned to make Sunday their last day, but loyal customers had other ideas. "Thursday set our best day ever in 33-and-a-half years. Then Friday broke Thursday's record. And Saturday broke Friday's record," said Oliveira.

So they decided to make sure everyone got their last burger and fries, and added one more day. "We'll be open all day Monday until midnight - or until the line stops," said Oliveira.

The University of Texas purchased the property in 2012 and now opted to terminate Players lease.
