Salty Sow Pulls 'Obama Care Margarita' After Twitter Controversy

The Salty Sow calls the drink a "tongue-in-cheek reference" gone wrong.

Manor Road restaurant The Salty Sow attempted mixing booze and politics last night and sparked a Twitter controversy instead. The restaurant ran an 'Obama Care Margarita' on their menu, described as: "Blanche frozen margarita with Chambord * $1 will go to help covering Obama care costs."

A patron tweeted out an image of the menu asking, "what's up w the @FoxNews sponsored menu crap?" A number of similarly aghast Austinites chimed in. The Salty Sow tweeted an apology, and a representative for the restaurant passes along the following statement to Eater:

On last night's menu, we made a tongue-in-cheek reference to a hot button topic. We apologized to those who were offended and have removed it from the menu.
