Despite the unseasonably cold temperatures, plenty of meat-crazed Austinites (including the littlest barbecue obsessive) lined up for Houston pitmaster Ronnie Killen's pop-up yesterday. Foreign & Domestic hosted the event, and chef Ned Elliott, as well as Louie Mueller Barbecue's pitmaster Wayne Mueller, both pitched in. Dessert came from Houston's Fluff Baked Bar, and Saint Arnold offered free beer. Eater photographer Robert J. Lerma captures the scene.
By all reports, the event was a huge success despite freezing weather, and another pop-up could be in the works. Killen's Twitter feud with barbecue dark prince John Mueller sparked the invasion, and judging by the line, Austin would happily welcome a trend of settling all barbecue feuds here with delicious smokey meats.
