East Austin will soon have a new go-to for burgers, eggs, and other diner fare when tiny, popular breakfast and lunch specialists Counter Cafe opens on East 6th. The restaurant looks almost ready to go: besides the stylish neon sign, the white-tiled interior is nearly complete, and chairs are even stacked on the patio.
The original location of Counter Cafe will remain open on Lamar, but owner Debbie Davis previously told Eater the the long-term future of their leased space is uncertain. Counter Cafe East's next door neighbor Gardner, the hotly anticipated new restaurant from Contigo, should open sometime this fall as well.
