Rainey Street bar mogul Bridget Dunlap will open three new projects in 2015, according to a recent profile in The Statesman. Dunlap is moving forward with plans to open two restaurants in East Austin, though she will now do so without former executive chef and collaborator Andrew Francisco. Dunlap will also resurrect iconic bar Lustre Pearl on Rainey Street.
As previously reported, East 6th will get a new casual Italian restaurant, now called Nuns and Lovers, and the old Lustre Pearl building (which Dunlap moved on a truck) will re-open as a bar and restaurant. Here's more details on the three projects from The Statesman:
There will be some differences. The East Austin Lustre Pearl location will feature food, for instance. A new "modern-looking" glass building will go up next door with a kitchen and dining area, featuring a menu that will include burgers, tacos, salads, hot dogs and Frito pie, among other offerings. . . .
Nuns and Lovers, the Italian restaurant and bar, will be at Chicon and East Sixth streets. Formerly the home of a T-shirt printing company, the building is slated for an extensive remodel.
