Philip and Laura Brown, owners of Vince Young Steakhouse, spoke to the Austin American-Statesman about what they’ve learned through the past four years of running a restaurant. In a world where anyone with a computer or phone is a critic, the Browns relied on following up with diners after their meals to find out what they could do better.

"People don’t want to say negative things at the table," Laura says. "And if there are issues, this is why the callbacks are so vital to us. You’re only as good as the last person you served here."
