Contigo's new East 6th restaurant Gardner has set a date: Monday November 3. The sleek and modern space will feature a menu composed primarily of vegetable dishes, as well as a beverage menu focused on beer and wine. Initial opening hours are Sunday - Wednesday 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. and Thursday - Saturday 5:30 - 10:30 p.m. The Statesman reports neighboring restaurant Counter Cafe should also open sometime that week.
Co-owner Ben Edgerton says the quiet, intimate interior and focus on vegetables means the restaurant is a sort of "inverse Contigo." Edgerton and chef Andrew Wiseheart's first restaurant features ample outdoor space, a bustling atmosphere, and lots and lots of meat. Gardner was first splashily announced at The Austin Food & Wine Festival last April.
