The Eater National mothership reports Jon Favreau's indie comedy Chef will have its world premiere opening night of the SXSW Film Festival. The film follows the misadventures of a chef who quits his fine dining job to open a food truck called El Jefe Cubanos.
Chef shot at Franklin Barbecue and Guero's in Austin during its cross-country tour, and Eater spotted Aaron Franklin participating in the filming itself Aaron Franklin is confirmed, see below. SXSW Film's opening night is March 7.
Update! Jarod Neece, Producer/Senior Programmer at SXSW Film and taco journalist, tells Eater why Chef was such a perfect fit:
It's a really fun film and showcases Austin wonderfully. Aaron Franklin made the cut and so did South Congress, Guero's and Gary Clark Jr.! We are thrilled to premiere the film and can't wait to share it with Austin.· Jon Favreau's Chef Will Premiere at SXSW Film Festival [EN]
