Chi'Lantro and Peached Tortilla Throw Down; The Liberty's Chili Cookoff; Half Step First Look

ROSEDALEFood Trailers Austin is launching Mobile Food Throwdown, a new event in which two trailers compete for title of "best in Austin." The first round features the The Peached Tortilla and Chi'Lantro going head to head for the title of best Asian fusion trailer in Austin. The event will take place at the Draught House on Saturday, February 22 from 2-5 p.m. Tickets are $20 and include food from both trucks and a New Belgium beer. [Eaterwire]

EAST 6TH — Speaking of throwdows, The Liberty will host a chili cookoff on Sunday, February 16 from 4-6 p.m. Attendance and chili-tasting is free, and entrance to the contest is $10. Winners will get a special Liberty chili trophy, which sounds like it's worth the entry price alone. [Eaterwire]

RAINEY STREETZagat has a first look at new craft cocktail bar Half Step. The bar from L.A. cocktail bar The Varnish's Chris Bostick is slated to open officially February 4 and is currently in its soft opening phase. Zagat calls the space "Midnight Cowboy meets Banger's." [Zagat]
