The newest Austin Whole Foods opens today at the Domain to a whole lot of hoopla. Dining options include an oyster bar and the grocery chain's first foray into barbecue ramen. They also boast their own shipping container bar, called Public Domain, which in addition to the boozy options has a root beer on tap.
Whole Food's Southwest R&D chef Rachel Dunlap recently participated in Foreign & Domestic's Indie Chefs Week, and her miso-glazed oyster from that event is now a secret menu item at the Draft Shack oyster bar. The Domain store is Austin's fifth Whole Foods, which is a lot of Whole Foods.
