As part of its September issue, Dark Rye (a strikingly hip online magazine and clever marketing move from Whole Foods Market Inc.) focuses on "meat and the living, breathing, sentient, feeling and thoughtful animals from which our meat derives."
Speaking of animals, apparently Texas is home to two to three million living, breathing, sentient, feeling and thoughtful feral hogs. That's 50 percent of the entire national population of the infamously ornery and difficult to hunt creatures. To find out more about the issue, Dark Rye interviewed Jesse Griffiths — local hunter, James Beard Award Finalist and founder of soon-to-be-opened brick-and-mortar shop Dai Due.
