Jason Stude on Chopped Victory; La Condesa's New Taco Truck; Bitch Beer at la Barbecue

TV LANDCulture Map chats with Austin's newest Chopped champion Jason Stude of Second Bar + Kitchen, who reveals that being on the show is as stressful as it looks, "maybe more." That said, the biggest surprise he found was that there was "only one ice cream machine." Stude's formula for success was to have "a narrative" and focus on what he liked cooking, "Southeast Asian and Southwestern American flavors." But even after his triumph, the show still gave him "stress dreams." [Culture Map]

NEW FOOD TRUCK-ISH ALERTLa Condesa now has a taco truck called El Cubico, which will be premiering at the Sustainable Food Center's opening party on September 24, and is also scheduled to appear at Fun Fun Fun Fest and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. Don't go looking for it on the regular, however. The truck is designed primarily for catering. [Eaterwire]

SOUTH FIRST — The ladies of Bitch Beer continue making the rounds (and providing free beer) around Austin in celebration of their new book. This Sunday, September 22, they'll be appearing at la Barbecue at 11am and serving free Saint Arnold beer "until it runs out." [Do512]
