The Austin branch of cocktail mini-empire Weather Up is finally adding in-house food service over a year after their opening, with Kristine Kittrell, also of Mulberry, at the helm. Eater spoke with Kittrell about this new role. The menu concept is to re-create a "super awesome cocktail party" with luxurious small bites" featuring items like caviar, foie gras, and scallops. She describes Weather Up's kitchen as a "Harry Potter kitchen," since the tiny space is located under the stairs. Kittrell will be the only person working in the small kitchen, and says she's excited for the "unique challenge." Her role at Mulberry remains unchanged, and she calls Mulberry's owner Michael Polombo "incredibly supportive."

To start, food will be seved from 5-11pm seven days a week, and the bar will be applying for a late night permit to extend service to 2am in the future. Kittrell hopes to start serving Tuesday, September 17th, but that date depends on permits. The bar will celebrate Kittrell's arrival with a pig roast on Sunday, September 15 from 8-11pm.

Eater also spoke with food truck Tapas Bravas, who had previously been parked outside of Weather Up. The owners report that the Weather Up truck will be moving to "East 6th" with an updated menu "by the end of the month." They are also opening a third truck at Midway Food Park, which will feature tapas, a "kids menu" and baked goods on October 1st.
