Bryce and Jack Gilmore in the NYT; Slow Food Happy Hour; Violet Crown Cinema's Pub Crawl

FAMILY BUSINESSThe New York Times has a profile of second-generation chefs and their parents, including a brief mention of Austin father-son duo Bryce Gilmore and Jack Gilmore, of Barley Swine and Jack Allen's Kitchen respectively. According to the Times, Bryce "grew up learning at Jack's elbow," and now he's teaching his father about "cultivating relationships with farmers." [NYT]

EAST SIDE — Slow Food Austin will be hosting a happy hour on September 12 from 6-9pm at Springdale Farm, featuring offerings from Antonelli's, The Red Wattle and Easy Tiger and cocktails by the Tipsy Texan David Alan. DOWNTOWN — Violet Crown Cinema will be hosting a pub crawl on September 12 to celebrate the opening of the film Drinking Buddies, which is set at a Chicago brewery. Stops include the nearly-ready-to-open Wright Bros. Brew & Brew, as well as Easy Tiger, Frank, and The Gingerman. The crawl starts at 6pm for a 10pm screening of the film. [Eaterwire]
