School House Pub's Opening Delayed Due to Gas Issue

School House Pub's projected opening date of Friday is not to be. The big hold-up, it turns out, is the Texas Gas Service, who have been dragging their feet on the gas line installation. Owner Edgar Torres says he'd be happy to open and just serve drinks, but the health department "doesn't give out permits without gas." Though the Mi Madre's team has opened several restaurants in the past, this was their first time doing a full remodel. "This is definitely the most challenging opening we've ever had."

School House Pub's menu promises to be worth the wait. The bar-food focused list includes deep-fried deviled eggs, "duck pie," and a French dip made with in-house roast beef. They'll also be making their own pickles and sausages, and sourcing from standout local farms like Tecolote and Boggy Creek. Even better? "There's nothing on the menu over $10."

As for the new opening date, "We jinxed ourselves. When we're 100% sure, we'll let you know."
Note to impatient Cherrywood residents: The number for the Texas Gas Service is 1-800-700-2443.[~EATX~]
