The ABGB, aka Austin Beer Garden and Brewing Company, will open today at 3PM after a much buzzed-about soft opening. The Austin Chronicle has a sneak peek at their space, and The Statesman's Emma Janzen has all the brewing details for true beer nerds.
Eater spoke with ABGB's Mark Jensen about the food program. He reports that just as they do "5 'always' beers and 5 'sometimes' beers," the menu works on a similar model. "We'll have some pizzas and two standard salads that you can come and get everyday, but about half our menu will change based on what's fresh." The will source from the "usual local suspects" like Johnson's Backyard Garden, Salt & Time, and Easy Tiger, as well as some "fun surprises." They have nicknamed chef Tim Stevens, "Jesus," so clearly he'll have some room to play. Jensen says the menu concept boils down to the idea that, "Lagers=Perfect With Pizza." Check out their "always" menu below the cut.
