Mixologist Michael Simon is OUT as Qui's bar manager, Eater can officially confirm after this morning's twitter chatter. Spokesperson Deana Saukam provided the following comment:
"Michael is no longer with us at qui. We wish him the best and will miss his creativity that was evident in his delicious drinks. At this time we are not looking for a replacement."
There is no word yet on Simon's next move, but he did offer the following comment to Eater that's a bit, um, more playful. Eater can confirm he was very torn up about the Batman casting on back channels as well:
I love the people of Austin, which is why I've dedicated my time working on my Lethal Weapon-esque Buddy-Cop screenplay starring myself and Chef Tim Dornon; chef Tim's got that Danny Glover "I'm getting too old for this shit," flavor that's perfect for the role. Anyway, this story is irrelevant compared to the awful casting of Ben Affleck as batman. An inspired choice would have been Idris Elba because he totally fucking rules. So don't say "michael simon is OUT at qui," say "michael simon is OUT-RAGED that Ben Affleck is Batman!"
Simon, who previously worked at Michelin-starred Graham Elliot and Carriage House and Bedford in Chicago, was brought on as part of the opening team at Qui last February.
