DOWNTOWN — The Austin Film Festival will kick off this year with their traditional Film & Food Party at the Driskill on October 23. Honorary chair will be writer/director Shane Black, known for movies like Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Lethal Weapon. The event will benefit the Austin Young Filmmakers program and feature the "culinary talents" of hotspots like Foreign & Domestic, Garrido's, and Swift's Attic. Tickets can be purchased here. WEST SIXTHLittle Woodrow's is celebrating ten years on West 6th with a weekend-long party. They will be offering drink specials, bands, DJ's, and turtle racing in celebration/sacrifice to the bar gods. The party will run from Friday 3PM - 12AM and Saturday and Sunday 12PM - 2AM, which is a lot of turtle racing. [Eaterwire]

OAK HILL — Jack Allen's Kitchen will host a "Spirits of Texas" dinner on Tuesday, September 3rd. The six-course menu will be paired with cocktails feature local liquors including Tito's Vodka, White Hot Rum, and TX Blended Whiskey.
